Precise Positioning System

A laser positioning system is used on both the horizontal and vertical axis. The reflectors are mounted at the end of the aisle for horizontal and on the lift carriage for vertical positioning. The transmitter/reciever(s) are mounted on the machine. They both sense position within 1/16". Therefore our Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS) knows where it is (both Horizontally and Vertically) at all times. All of the load addresses in the aisle are then precisely "definable" in both the horizontal and vertical axes. In essence, each defined location has its own set of coordinates.

More importantly, racks and their layout can be changed by the user. The system coordinates can then be easily redefined in the end of aisle (E.O.A.) Controlling PC.
