It remembers the exact location of each storage position to the precision of .076 in., therefore the load locations can be in any irregular arrangement in the aisle, horizontally and vertically.

Outstanding Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) Performance

AFT's Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS), the SR/F, is designed for continuous duty operation at its full load rated capacity. A conservative estimate of 40 dual load movements per hour per machine is easily attained (based on a 300 ft aisle). With a maximum of 700 FPM horizontal and 90 FPM vertical, our Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS), the SR/F, has the capability of matching the through put of any existing Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS).

The speeds are precisely programmable along with acceleration/deceleration to meet each users individual Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS) requirements. Actual throughput is governed by the length and height of the rack aisles.

Typical man ride fork truck systems usually can attain a throughput of only 10 single moves per hour when serving a rack storage system. That is significantly lower than our average of 40 moves per hour. With our Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS), the SR/F, installed, fork trucks if used need only travel to the head of each aisle or in rack P&D locations to deposit or pick up pallets. Innovative Mounting

The major difference in our Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS) design concept is the use of conventional forks mounted on a rotating and transverse shifting mechanism to handle the pallet loads. This is in contrast to a shuttle device used on conventional Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling Systems (AS/RS) that require cantilever stub shelf racks (to provide clearance for the shuttle mechanism under the pallet).

The Fork Extractor is Mounted on the front of our Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS), which is counterbalanced and with no structure in front of the forks to restrict their freedom of movement. The extractor is composed of a rugged rotating fork assembly driven by an industrial heavy duty gear unit and traverses laterally on precision ways by a heavy duty industrial ball screw.

The advantage of this Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS) arrangement vs. the conventional Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS) shuttle is the ability of our Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS) to handle any load/pallet that a fork truck or pallet jack can. AFT's Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS) can pick up or deposit pallets from simple bolsters anywhere on the aisle or at the end of the aisle.

Our entire Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS) system is designed from the ground up to Heavy Duty Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS) standards for the industrial environment, with conservative engineering principles applied throughout.

For example, the track is ASME 60 lbs./yd. Rail. Heavy duty PFV ( Plastic Filled Valley) wire rope is used for the vertical lift for maximum life and a better than 8 to 1 safety factor. Precise Positioning System

A laser positioning system is used for both the horizontal and vertical axis. Reflectors are mounted at the end of the aisle for horizontal and on the lift carriage for vertical positioning. They sense position within 1/8". Therefore our Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS) knows where it is (both Horizontally and Vertically) at all times. All of the load addresses in the aisle are then precisely "definable" in both the horizontal and vertical axes. In essence, each defined location has its own set of coordinates.

More importantly, racks and their layout can be changed by the user. The system coordinates can then be easily redefined in the end of aisle (E.O.A.) Controlling PC.

PC Based Control System

AFT provides PC based computers at the end of each aisle, (programmed with Windows 7) for inventory control of every pallet in the racks. These End of Aisle Controllers provide complete automated operation by themselves or can be interfaced to centralized warehouse computer systems.

Each of our individual Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling Systems (AS/RS) are directly controlled by an "off the shelf" IBM® compatible Personal Computer running Windows NT®. The PC communicates to our Automated Storage and Retrieval Material Handling System (AS/RS) via an Infrared Duplex light beam. It is virtually "noise free" compared to slide wire systems and more reliable than festoon wire systems.

Vertical & Horizontal Drives:

High performance sine-coded, pulse width modulated AC vector motor drives which generates an adjustable voltage/ frequency three phase output for complete speed control. Automatic stall prevention and voltage boost prevents nuisance tripping during load or line side transient conditions. The drives will not induce any voltage or distortion back into the utility line and maintains a displacement power factor of not less than 0.98 throughout its speed range.

Communication:

S/R Machine Controls:

Electrical Components: JIC code compliance throughout. NEMA-12 rated enclosure, sensors, and wiring. Panel-mounted diagnostic indicator lights. Panel-mounted maintenance controls.

Logistics and Positioning: Onboard programmable controller A-B SLC-500® communication by ethernet ghost bridge. Fine positioning, motor-mounted resolvers with 1/16'' accuracy or 1 deg. Accurate positioning on startup.

Sareguards:

Front and rear aisle-obstruction detectors. Onboard and off-board emergency stops. Load and centering sensors and interlocks.

Rack Structure:

Virtually any post and beam (conventional) existing or new racks capable of safely bearing the pallet loads (pushback and flow rack). Continuity of vertical shelf distance from floor NOT REQUIRED. Common depth dimension recommended, but differing depths can often be accommodated. Racks must be attached to the floor but no shimming is needed except with extreme floor conditions.

Maximum Height: 100 ft.

Pallets:

Any two or four way pallet capable of being used with the racks
